History Makers | History

In the summer of 2006, after hearing a song “History Makers” written by Delirious?, God spoke clearly to the heart of a young woman Iveta Suščika: “You have to make a camp for those who already know Me and want to get to know Me more, to strengthen their relationship with Me. You must organize a prayer camp!” This placed a fire in her heart and soon after, in November of the same year, the first History Makers camp took place. Around 30 young people from Latvia participated in it.

Little by little, the next and then the next camp followed, in which the number of participants grew gradually. Young people met with God and experienced wonderful testimonies. As time passed, new ideas emerged regarding different projects.

In the beginning of 2011, the History Makers camp leader at the time met with some young people from Russian churches. During the meeting, there came a wish to do something together – there was a feeling something that could unite young people from all over Latvia was necessary. Thus, the idea of History Makers UNITED camp was born. It was a big and audacious dream, but we trusted that God was the one leading us. In August 2011, the first UNITED camp took place, which brought together around 300 young people from the Baltic States.

After the camp we wanted to do something more than 2 camps a year. When the team came together, there rose an idea to start travelling around Latvia, visiting young people and organizing History Makers EVENINGS in different cities. You can read more about these evenings in the EVENINGS section. During the same period, we began to organize History Makers Worship School, Youth conference in the winter, as well as create different Internet resources. We strive to reach young people throughout Latvia.

We ask ourselves a simple question – how can we influence this generation? Perhaps we do not have as much experience, support or wisdom in all things, but our hearts are burning for young people.

We believe that this is a time for the young people of Latvia. We believe that it is possible to guide this generation towards the ways of Christ. We want to be history makers!
